IDG Ventures Vietnam (IDGVV) was established in 2004, drawing on the success and experience of IDG Ventures China, founded in 1993 as the first American venture capital firm in China.<\/span><\/h1>\n

IDGVV invests in high-quality companies entering their growth stage, focusing on areas such as e-commerce infrastructure, information and communications, technology businesses, and media and entertainment. Typically, IDGVV is the first investment fund to participate in companies with which it reaches investment agreements.<\/span><\/p>\n

The head of IDGVV emphasized that the fund\u2019s successful investments would help attract future mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Recently, Vietnam surpassed India and China in attractiveness to foreign asset-investment funds, according to research organization Emerging Portfolio Fund Research.<\/span><\/p>\n

IDGVV is currently raising a second fund worth USD 150 million to invest in the above sectors, with disbursements expected to begin early or midway through next year.<\/span>
\n\u201cOur strategy of expanding investment into other sectors remains consistent with the fund\u2019s traditional approach of prioritizing companies that capitalize on technological strengths, because technology is our core value. IDGVV expects to invest in 5-6 companies each year, bringing this second fund\u2019s portfolio to around 25 companies,\u201d said Mr. Henry Nguyen, CEO of IDGVV.<\/span><\/p>\n
