Make time to take risks, to love, laugh, cry, learn and forgive. Life is shorter than you think.

Here are 10 things you need to know before it is too late:

1. Your life is not the span from birth to death. It is this breath until the next. The present—right here and now—is your life. Enjoy every moment with kindness and peace, without fear or regret.

2. Life is very short. This is your life, and you must fight for it. Fight for what is right. Fight for what you believe in. Fight for what matters to you. Fight for the people you love, and never forget to tell them how much they mean to you. Realize right now that you are lucky to still have a chance. So pause for a moment and think. Whatever you need to do, do it today.

3. Today's sacrifices will be rewarded tomorrow. When it comes to working hard to fulfill a wish—such as graduating from university, building a career or achieving something that takes time and determination—I want to ask you: “Are you willing to live a life different from everyone else's?”

4. When you procrastinate, you become a slave to yesterday. But when you are proactive, yesterday becomes a good friend that motivates you. So do something now that your future self will thank you for.

5. Failure is a lesson you receive. Good things come to those who hope even after disappointing others, to those who still believe even after tasting failure, and to those who still love even after being hurt. So never regret what has happened in your life. We cannot change it, redo it or forget it. Turn it into lessons and keep living with gratitude.

6. You are the most important person to yourself. Happiness means being content with yourself without needing anyone's approval. You must treat yourself well before you can have good relationships with others. You must see your own worth before you can appear confident to others.

7. A person's actions tell the truth. You will meet many people in life. They may say lovely things, but ultimately only their actions reveal who they are. So pay attention to what people do. Their actions will tell you everything you need to know.

8. Even very small acts of kindness make the world better. Smile at people you sense have had a stressful day. Be kind to them. Kindness is the only investment that is never wasted. Wherever there are people, there are opportunities for kindness. Learn to give, even if only a smile. Give not because you have too much, but because you know so many people feel as if they have nothing.

9. Behind a beautiful life lies no small amount of suffering. You are human, so you cannot be perfect. Though hurt, you have survived. Think of the precious privilege of still being alive, breathing, thinking, enjoying life and pursuing what you love. Sometimes there is sadness along life's road, but there is still much joy. We must keep moving forward even when we are hurting, because we never know what awaits us.

10. Time and experience heal pain. A few years ago, when I asked my grandmother about overcoming pain, she explained: Look at the circles below. The black circles represent life experience. Mine is larger because I am older and have more experience. The smaller red circles represent the sad events in our lives.

Suppose you and I, grandmother and grandchild, have experienced the same sad stories in life, so our red circles are equal in size. Notice the ratio of the red circle to the black circle. Your red circle is quite large relative to your black circle, while mine is very small relative to my black circle because I have more life experience.

I do not want to diminish the importance of this matter. I simply see it differently. You need to understand that however painful a sad event in life may be, one day it will become only a tiny part of your entire past, and it is not as serious as you think it is now.

Nguyễn Thảo(According to marcandangel)

Source: Vietnamnet

Hãy dành thời gian để biết bạn muốn gì và cần gì.
