Carrying a Mission and Aspiring to Become ‘An ENTREPRENEURSHIP training and support organization’ – REPUTABLE a leader in Vietnam. Besides courses that bring students fundamental and valuable knowledge, YUP! also organizes many other community activities alongside them.
Recognizing that young startup founders still lack a community where they can share experiences and learn from real entrepreneurial stories, YUP! launched the annual in-person event “START-UP BUS: The Journey to the Entrepreneurial Dream.” Its first edition, focusing on EDUCATION, was held successfully at the YUP! house at 18:30 on Friday, 4 July 2014. Two startups shared their experiences: life-skills training presented by Huy Trần of YMCA, and the GURU team’s ‘Online Learning’ project presented by Chính Dũng.
Despite the wind and rain, many people braved the difficulties in a spirit of learning and came to join the program. Many who were not YUP! students also participated enthusiastically. Besides gaining experience from earlier startups, participants had opportunities to meet others, make connections, and expand their own networks. The program began with lively, enthusiastic conversations among participants.
At the start of the program, everyone learned about the 2 guest projects: the earliest beginnings through the first successes of the ‘Life Skills Training’ project, and the final sprint toward launching the product of the ‘Online Learning’ project, Guru.
True to the program's purpose—sharing and learning from real people and real experiences—after the 2 guest projects briefly introduced themselves, the program moved into an informal conversation exploring the entrepreneurial journeys of these 2 projects:
+ Why choose the difficult entrepreneurial path over a stable, safe job?
+ Why begin with Education instead of F&B, Agriculture, Technology…?
+ What DISTINCTIVE value do your products deliver to consumers?
+ How did they find co-founders sharing their ideas, passion, and loyalty?
+ What difficulties and challenges did they face, and how did they overcome them?
+ What difficulty still leaves them stuck?
……
Yes, many questions were raised, and drawing on their real-life experiences, the 02 guests shared their own stories, giving everyone attending that day concrete, clear, and vivid perspectives on the STARTUP journey.
Interaction came not only from guests. Participants actively raised their own questions and concerns and shared personal experiences across many aspects of the difficulties and challenges of ENTREPRENEURSHIP.
Guests and participants also offered solutions and a rich range of perspectives. The unresolved issues gradually began to be addressed.
The in-person gathering ended with an engaging and meaningful game about “Networking.” After the game, everyone would better understand what networking is and how to network effectively.
Through moments from the program, YUP! wants to work with the community to spread values and the spirit of sharing, connecting, and learning from one another. Through stories shared by those who have started and are starting businesses, YUP! hopes it has helped create a space and a community offering practical lessons and warm connections for entrepreneurs.
We hope that after this program, the entrepreneurial community will continue supporting YUP! So future editions, focusing on one field each month, can bring useful experience and value to the community.
