Josh Bennett, 36, who lives in New York, is perhaps a rarity in today's world. He has gone beyond a passion for knitting to turn it into a career and has been invited to collaborate with many prestigious fashion brands.
Browse Josh's Instagram account with 36,000 followers and you will see him knitting in the Maldives, knitting with his bulldog Schubert, and countless other photos of him knitting. However, he avoids knitting in public places.
‘That is good for me.’, Josh explained. He does not knit in public, not because he fears judgments of his masculinity, but because it distracts him. People approach to talk about knitting and interrupt him.

“I travel a great deal, so I like knitting on airplanes.”, he said. “It is like a mobile office. I knit while watching movies, and someone brings me food.”
Alongside his own projects, Josh has done everything in the knitting industry. He runs several hand-knitted yarn shops in New York, creates patterns for Vogue Knitting, teaches knitting classes across the United States for Vogue Knitting Live, and holds a degree in Menswear Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
He has also worked with Tommy Hilfiger as a designer and collaborated with brands such as Marvel Studios, which created a Thor-inspired sweater collection. Although he must hire additional help for large projects, Josh still tries to work from 5 a.m. until 1 a.m. to knit as many products as possible.

Josh learned to knit from his maternal grandmother and has proved that it is not a pursuit reserved for women. Moreover, Josh's story once again demonstrates the saying: “Keep pursuing your passion, and success will pursue you.”
