The habits below will help you shape your future. Think carefully about them and start putting them into practice today.
1. Question Everything
What makes us most uncomfortable is questioning everything and persisting until we find answers. Yet with this habit, we gradually discover things others may never learn in life.
2. Wake up very early
Waking very early, for example before sunrise, is the best way to start a day of work and study. Waking at 5 a.m., while everyone is still asleep, offers a perfect start in quietness. Although a considerable challenge, we can do it with determination and by making it a habit.
3. Do something creative
Everyone wants to do something creative with their life, but few manage it because they fear failure. Cultivating creativity takes time and patience, yet benefits both body and soul. In business especially, creativity helps you differentiate your company. This determines a business's degree of success.
4. Financial control
Track all your income and expenses, from car repairs to coffee with friends, for several consecutive months. Also try to pay for everything in cash and limit card use. If you have to take out your wallet and pay cash, you will reconsider whether you really want the item. You will certainly be surprised by how much you save when you keep a close watch on your finances.
5. Participate in volunteer activities
Although volunteering takes some time, it makes us feel that we are doing something significant for society. The feeling of being part of something meaningful in other people's lives is something money can hardly buy.
6. Always control what you eat
Monitoring and understanding what you eat and your daily exercise can be difficult, but it helps us see the benefits and harms of the food we consume. Many smartphone apps make this tracking easier. Gradually, once it becomes a habit, you will know which nutrients you have too much or too little of.
7. Eat only things that benefit your health
Once you have control over what you eat, eat things that truly benefit your health; it will change your life forever. Prepare your own food and eat organic foods as much as possible. They may be expensive, but they will cost less than medical treatment later. Avoid eating too much fatty meat; eat plenty of vegetables and fiber. Although this is difficult, time-consuming, and somewhat expensive, and may not taste as good as fatty foods, it will be worth the effort. You will feel better not only physically, but also in spirit.
8. Practice public speaking
Many people find this torturous, and at some point in life we have to speak before a crowd. Yet it is a good way to stand out. A skilled speaker always achieves a measure of success in life. Practice presenting before a mirror, then to a small group and progressively larger groups.
9. Get to know strangers
See someone you like? Go over and introduce yourself or talk to them. The worst that can happen is rejection by that stranger; otherwise, you lose nothing. This increases your confidence and improves your ability to meet strangers in future opportunities.
10. Put Your Phone in Your Pocket
How many times have you checked your phone while reading this? Likewise, when you go to a restaurant or café with friends, how often do you pull out your phone to check it?
If the answer is “too many to count,” you need to stop this habit. Instead of using your phone whenever you are bored, studies show that allowing yourself to experience boredom helps boost productivity and creativity. Limiting phone use when with others is also basic everyday courtesy.
