In response to the figures and survey information presented at the seminar about current conditions and practices, delegates raised many issues. Discussion focused on factors affecting the survival and growth of new businesses, especially high-tech businesses, what influences technology park effectiveness, and how to establish successful entrepreneur incubators.

Faced with the issue and challenging question of ‘How to Create an Entrepreneurial Culture’ for Đà Nẵng in particular and the country in general, CEO Tạ Minh Tuấn delivered a fascinating presentation. He offered arguments and a systems model drawn from his experience interacting with more than 400 startups, as well as research on:

–Why do young people in Saigon succeed or fail at entrepreneurship?
-How can this be applied in Da Nang?
-The Smart Entrepreneurship Model (copyrighted)
-From a culture of failure to an entrepreneurial economy.
-Notes on policies, implementation, and suitable entrepreneurship training methods for Da Nang.

Tạ Minh Tuấn also shared: “Creating an entrepreneurial culture should begin at every age, and most importantly, it must begin with Education.”

Entrepreneurs are not the only ones who need to understand a culture of accepting failure on the way to success. Society also needs to understand and encourage young entrepreneurs when they fail. Failure in entrepreneurship is perfectly normal, yet we seem not to have learned how to accept it or face it amid public and social scorn, criticism and even obstruction. This is also a very real part of why entrepreneurial spirit declines. What matters is what lessons and experience we gain from failure, and whether we dare to get up and start again. What should society do to encourage those who fail and turn failure into motivation? Failure is not an end; it is a step toward success. To succeed, we must continually learn and explore the principles of success from those who came before us.

Tạ Minh Tuấn readily clarified the issue and shared the “Smart Startup Model,” presenting 6 Principles of Sustainable Success in Ho Chi Minh City that he himself had systematized, distilled, and applied.

1.Market (Demand)

2.Competence (Competitive advantage)

3.Passion (Enthusiasm)

4.Social Impact (Impact on society)

5.Legal (Legal considerations).

6.Scalability (Ability to scale)

These 6 factors apply not only to Đà Nẵng but also to anyone and any entrepreneurial region. Business startup training should focus on them.

Businesses need to consider creating a model that scales well in order to bring value to even more customers.
