Mr. Lưu Hải Phương's ancestral home is Quảng Ngãi. Born and raised in Hải Phòng, he later moved to Hanoi and is currently Chairman of Á Châu Xanh Joint Stock Company and a roads-and-bridges consulting engineer for a US company.
He shared that he had been a soldier. A few years after leaving the military, he sought out and reunited with his former comrades in Kiên Giang. Noticing that the area received frequent, strong winds, especially during the storm season, he came up with the idea of harnessing wind energy to serve the needs of island residents.
From there, he developed his idea into the ‘GREEN TECHNOLOGY CLUSTER PROJECT ON VIETNAM’S SEAS AND ISLANDS, a project using wind power for ice-making plants combined with cold storage, using wind power together with solar energy.
Through his research, he found:
– Economic aspects: the project has considerable profit potential because of demand for ice from offshore fishing vessels and seafood collection depots on the island.
– Meet the essential needs of people on the island.
– The project aligns with state policies
After extensive research and exploration, he submitted his project to the authorities for intellectual property registration. He has now received a valid certificate and expects to obtain the project’s Intellectual Property Certificate in 2014.
His project also received strong support from local residents, the People's Committee, and seafood factories in Kiên Giang Province, because it is practical and greatly benefits residents' lives and livelihoods as well as factories in Kiên Giang.
His target customers are seafood companies, People's Committees and privately owned fishing vessels in Kiên Giang.
Phương plans to devote all his capital, effort, and workforce over the coming year to building the facility. He estimates that profits will begin 3 to 4 years afterward.
Once the project develops successfully in Kiên Giang province, he will expand it throughout Vietnam and into Cambodia.
