Personally, I treasure the moments spent listening to the teachers’ insights. To me, that is a great connection and great good fortune in life, especially on my entrepreneurial journey. I think anyone nurturing a dream or aspiration to start a business, run their own enterprise, and be their own boss, who needs capital and support from investors, should come to YUP. I am not doing PR for the Academy: no one needs me to do that, I am not paid for it, and I am not a media professional with the reach to promote it. These are simply my real feelings about the Academy. At the very least, this place educated and opened the eyes of someone like me, who knew nothing about business, to what running a business means, how to manage finances, how to build a company, and so on. There are countless extremely useful things I badly needed to learn but had no idea whom to ask. From a timid person, I have become stronger, more confident, more resilient, and willing to take risks.
If fear keeps you from taking action, at least you will still have knowledge and will not be underestimated for your understanding. Society now has many talented young people with broad knowledge; sometimes I even feel humbled by the 9X generation.
As I take the Start-up course and prepare to move into the Coaching phase, I feel anxious, nervous, challenged, and also excited—especially about presenting my project to investors later. I am doing something I had never even dared to imagine. In fact, before you can meet investors, your project must be truly convincing. So first you have to practice with your experts to see whether it is good. It really is not simple at all, but after crossing 1/3 of the ocean, you have to keep looking toward the destination on the other shore. How could you give up? One thing I really like about YUP is that an advisory board of leading business consulting experts will “back” and “protect” a startup for 2 years. That is why I want to tell anyone with a few business ideas of their own: do not hesitate to start professionally with YUP's instructors backing you. Hehe!
P.S.: Late-night musings!
