To succeed, startups need to remember these 2 words

Becoming CEO of her own company at just 26, Liz Wessel advises young aspiring entrepreneurs always to “say yes” to every possible opportunity.

Liz Wessel is only 26 but already CEO of the company she founded.

After working at Google for 2 years, Liz co-founded WayUp, a website used by hundreds of thousands of college students to find jobs at leading companies such as Microsoft, Uber, The New York Times, Disney, and Google.

Liz is now CEO of Wayup. Contributing to her early success was advice consisting of just 2 words: ‘SAY YES.’

‘Your twenties are a time to discover who you are, so do not fear risk or failure. Travel widely and try new things. I always say “yes” to every new opportunity and project whenever I can. Results will follow before long,’ Liz said.

Another piece of advice Liz offers aspiring entrepreneurs is: “Do not chase money; seek happiness instead.”

Liz Wessel is now 26 and CEO of the company she founded.

She says your 20s are a stepping stone for the rest of your life:

“You should focus on finding an industry or job you truly enjoy. If you are drawn only by the short-term salary or prestige of a job, you may have to sell your labor for the rest of your life.

For example, I have a few friends who entered finance immediately after graduation because they thought it offered the potential to earn a lot of money. Most, however, had a fairly miserable first year—except those who had been passionate about finance from the start.”

Once you have become deeply involved in a field, it becomes harder to switch to another industry. So start doing what you love as soon as you can.”
