Is “Managing Your Life” Difficult or Easy?

What is your purpose in life? How do you keep the ‘fire’ of passion alive? Which path leads to success? Each of us lives only once, so we need a plan to prevent life from passing meaninglessly!

Success requires ‘managing your life’

At a ‘Life Management’ seminar for Foreign Trade University students (campus 2), Lý Trường Chiến, senior consultant in restructuring, strategic management, and human resource development, said: ‘Each person’s life is like a ship arriving in port, leaving port, and sailing onward…’

Therefore, young people need to plan their path for the next 10 years. Every day, reflect on what you have accomplished and identify one takeaway as a new opportunity to move forward… In this way, we have 365 opportunities each year.”

Students must plan what they need to do according to their goal map.

How to practice QTCĐ sparked lively discussion. Hoàng Sang, a student at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, said confidently: ‘I have had strategies for my life for a long time. These include directions, guiding principles, how you set goals and how you work to achieve them. To me, life's journey is not aimless wandering; it needs destinations, both short-term and long-term.’

Thúy Ngân (26) shared: ‘The 3 steps to a goal map are: a heart that loves life; committing to action and taking responsibility; and reflecting on what you have done to find your own insights and take charge of life. Always assume it should benefit not only you but also others; only then can it bring success.’

Beyond making 10-year plans, many also shared: Over the next 30 years, I want ideas that change habits and improve the quality of life of people around me.

This is not an easy goal and requires continuous effort and learning, but it is a destination I want to reach. My life strategy is to start with small actions while always aiming for a larger purpose.

Skills for QTCĐ

Many young people ask why some people never achieve their goals even by the time they die. According to Mr. Chiến, this is especially true of those who live and work through inertia, habit and immediate objectives, rarely pausing to ask: ‘Who am I?’, ‘What do I truly want?’, ‘What must I do?’, ‘What are my goals?’, ‘What value do I bring?’ and ‘Where is my place?’ Answer all those questions, and success will come to you.

Success comes only to those with a sound strategy for “managing their lives.”

Develop a series of tasks and plans to address in order to advance your career and find what you want. When planning our lives, you will realize that first we need to plant the seeds of our dreams. Once a seed becomes a sapling, we must care for and protect it from life's storms so it can grow and develop more branches.

QTCĐ means managing your lifetime as well as possible, starting now before it is too late. Maintaining the “fire” of enthusiasm is also very important; like a backbone, it connects the difficulties and setbacks you have experienced, eventually helping you understand many valuable lessons at work.

In other words, developing a strategy for your life is necessary and essential. Living with purpose helps prevent us from going off the ‘rails’ as we travel through life.

Yet whoever we want to become and whatever we want to achieve, each of us needs basic preparation. We must build a solid foundation, including foreign-language skills, information technology proficiency, and sound thinking. Keep learning so today's strengths do not become tomorrow's weaknesses.
