YUP INSTITUTE – “The School of Entrepreneurs”
Founded on 20.11.2011, YUP Institute quickly became a pioneer in providing Vietnam's startup community with programs offering high-quality training and entrepreneurship support system effectively.
A trusted resource for entrepreneurship, YUP regularly organizes entrepreneurship training and support programs with measurable outcomes, continually working to address the current challenges of Vietnam's startup environment at their roots.
Every weekly YUP Institute organization 1-3 entrepreneurship training programs offering valuable, practical, actionable and highly applicable knowledge and experience for 40+ learners per session, this is a training program for the community and entirely free of charge. On average, each year YUP supports 2,000+ people apply this entrepreneurial experience and greatly reduce wasted money, time and effort with young entrepreneurs running projects lack the conditions needed to succeed and cannot benefit from previous experience from those who came before them. This is a positive social impact that YUP brings to the community.
Every year, YUP Institute organizing the program “X-Start Up” and selects outstanding individuals and projects to receive Vietnam's Entrepreneurial Talent Scholarships. In 2012, the program was a great success, with 30 projects selected from a total of 350 applications received. There are currently 80% of learners are business owners, and 70% have thoroughly resolved their challenges after YUP's entrepreneurship support program (one or more of the following: successfully founding a business, raising capital, building a team, launching a product that gains market acceptance, reaching break-even, achieving high returns, scaling up the business model, building a brand at low cost, turning negative cash flow positive, or raising enough funding while on the brink of bankruptcy to operate for the next 2 years…). Entrepreneurial Talent Scholarship Program 2013,2014,2015 have been, are being and will continue to be implemented.
Not every project is selected, because YUP's guiding principle is: “YUP does not yet have the resources to help everyone, but will focus its resources on those whose potential for success is demonstrated by the strongest desire to succeed and the ability to take committed action starting today.”
Educational programs at YUP with a scientific, practical teaching method with academic rigor and strong real-world applicability for Vietnam's startup environment, divided into 3 stages: (1) Training in 6 Skills in-depth entrepreneurship training – (2) Coaching & Mentoring the learners in each project – (3) Take – off: funding and access to capital, staffing support and business partner networks are valuable resources for entrepreneurs finding their feet during their first 3 years.
YUP's instructors are Today's Leading Experts on entrepreneurship in Vietnam, share a passion and a mission: to work together to help and support the younger generation so they can achieve success far beyond the previous generation and thereby contribute to the country's economic development.
MISSION
“Start-up Bridge”
YUP's mission is to build “Startup Bridge” in Vietnam. This will be “a bridge connecting” between:
- Business ideas WITH a product accepted by the market.
- Projects that exist only on paper WITH a fully formed company of your own.
- Entrepreneurs with plenty of passion but little money WITH professional investors.
- Individuals struggling to start a business WITH a comprehensive entrepreneurship support ecosystem.

At YUP, we often joke about “the 5 UPs philosophy”. Would you like to learn about “the 5 UPs philosophy”? That is your startup journey:
1 UP: Warm-UP = you begin to “warm up” before starting your business by listening to, reading and learning about startup stories. Every cell in your body comes alive whenever you hear the word “entrepreneurship”! You want to do something meaningful for yourself!
2 UP: Set-UP = you begin preparing the resources needed to start a business: experience, relationships, capital, knowledge, skills and an understanding of your industry…
3 UP: Start-UP = now you are truly starting a business. You begin selling your first product and feeling worried and afraid: every morning, you do not know whether you will earn any money, but you know for certain that money will go out in expenses. Yet you remain optimistic about the future, sometimes so optimistic that… you lose your way.
4 UP: Give-UP = your startup capital has run out, cash flow is still negative, customers keep saying no, bills arrive before you can find money to pay them, the landlord wants the rent, your parents complain, and your partner leaves because your obsession with the business has left them neglected… Countless pressures weigh on your shoulders, and you start to think, “Maybe I should give up?”…
At this point, the journey splits into 2 different scenarios:
Scenario 1:
5 UP: Shut-UP = you have officially given up. Now, whenever someone asks with good intentions, “How are you doing? Is the company thriving yet? When will you buy a car and take me for a ride?” all you want to say is “Shut up!” (Please stop bringing up… “that subject”!)
Scenario 2:
5 UP: UP in the air = you wisely continue gaining knowledge, finding mentors, learning and growing, and constantly refining your product and business model, until one day… you discover your own “formula for success.” You feel, quite rightly, that you are “UP in the air,” soaring high. Now you can take a little rest, but only a little, because your passion is still calling…
Our vision at YUP is to provide knowledge, skills, experience, support systems and tools to help 500+ startup “ships” are built by “a shipyard – a workshop where dreams take shape” of YUP will reach 5 UP in the second scenario: not only successful, but happy too.
